Volunteer FAQ
How do I volunteer?
At Thrive we believe all people are specially made by God to belong in His family and to contribute to His work. Everyone has a role to play, it's just about finding the right fit. The first step is to connect with a ministry leader for a team that interests you so they can help find the perfect role that fits your unique skills.
What kind of support and training will I receive?
Did you know that an ivy league study found that 70% of skills taught to church volunteers translate to effectiveness in your secular workplace? We don't create teams to take advantage of warm bodies, but its actually part of our strategic plan to help you thrive in your everyday life! We place a high value on mentorship and empowering new leaders. The role of team leaders is to encourage, support, train, and appreciate you as you do your part in God's work.
Are there special requirements for volunteers?
We believe there is a space for everyone, and we have many opportunities for you to put your toe into the water before diving in. But ultimately, to be a thriving part of a team requires commitment, character, and competency. Every team has a different process and expectations. For example, band members might go through an audition and we do background checks on anyone who works with kids. Generally speaking, pretty much anyone can serve, no matter where you are at in your journey, but leadership is reserved for those who have proven to be a faithful part of our community over time. You can learn about these expectations by connecting with a ministry leader about your specific role.
